We are experiencing an end to normalcy, both globally and individually. Anyone who tries to cling to normalcy finds it slipping through their fingers. This transformation demands a leap in consciousness and maturity to achieve a more meaningful life.
That's why we have to press the "pause" button. Not only is this the end of global normalcy, but we should also ask ourselves, what is ending within us? The hero's journey is the story behind all our stories. It's a sequence of actions that can be detected throughout the world and in all times. The monomyth, as Joseph Campbell calls it, gives us the blueprint, the map to evolve and create a better world.
There are different journeys. Some are horizontal, in time and space, where we travel through geographical territories, magical towns, sacred sites. And others are vertical journeys, journeys without distance that transform us. Everything begins with an end to normality, and it can happen at any moment in our lives.
The Hero's Journey is a practical, easy-to-identify map, a flashlight in the darkness, that helps us realize that we are not alone, nor are we the only ones who have felt lost in life.
To live a full life we need to follow our joy, as it teaches us,
Joseph Campbel.
